SINOPSIS
bercerita tentang petualangan newt scamander (eddie redmayne) di new york, amerika serikat. Pada tahun 1926, newt scamander tiba di kongres sihir di amerika serikat untuk bertemu dengan seorang pejabat penting. Dalam perjalanannya itu, dia turut membawa tas ajaib miliknya, yang berisikan sejumlah makhluk berbahaya. Suatu ketika, para makhluk itu melarikan diri dari tas scamander. Pemerintah amerika pun segera mengutus otoritas sihir-nya sesudah scamander. Tapi itu memicu ketegangan di antara masyarakat magis dan non-magis.
Kesalahan memiliki dampak buruk pada dunia sihir dan dunia muggle (yang tidak mempunyai kemampuan sihir). Kedua dunia itu kini dalam bahaya lantaran kehadiran dari new salem philanthropic society, sebuah organisasi yang didedikasikan untuk pemberantasan penyihir. Scamander berjuang untuk memperbaiki kesalahan, dan kengerian yang diakibatkan oleh kekerasan, ketakutan, dan ketegangan antara masyarakat magis dan non-magis.
Film fantastic beasts and where to find them diadaptasi dari buku karya j. K. Rowling yang berjudul sama, dan akan menampilkan karakter seorang penulis buku fiktif bernama newt scamander. Film ini bukan sebuah prekuel atau sekuel dari serial buku harry potter. Namun kisah dalam cerita dimulai dari new york pada tujuh puluh tahun sebelum kisah harry potter bergulir.
